Best Eye Cream for Under Eye Wrinkles
Eyes, they tend to be the first thing that people notice. It can say a lot about a person, whether they’re sad, tired, or even their age. Unfortunately, as you get older, under-eye wrinkles are inevitable. Many like myself don’t think about applying eye cream until they’re already visible. Looking back, I wished I’ve started using them sooner. Maybe I wouldn’t have as many wrinkles today. The good news is that it’s never too late to start using anti-aging eye creams.
What Causes Eye Wrinkles
The skin around the eye area is very thin and delicate, making it susceptible to breaking down. That, combined with other factors mentioned below, will result in unwanted wrinkles developing.
Repetitive movements - Facial expressions such as laughing, frowning, and squinting causes the collagen in your skin to break down in that area. Over time, skin loses its elasticity and flexibility and cannot bounce back, resulting in permanent wrinkles.
Sun - The sun is the primary cause of wrinkles. Ultraviolet radiation speeds up the aging process because it breaks down the skin’s connective tissue. Loss of collagen and elastin fibers results in less flexibility and sagging skin.
Smoking - Tobacco in smoke contains free radicals that accelerate the aging process of the skin. Smokers may squint and rub their eyes because of the smoke in the air resulting in premature wrinkles.
How to Prevent Eye Wrinkles
Sunscreen and sunglasses - Protect your skin from damaging ultraviolet radiation by applying sunscreen with at least SPF30 or more. Wearing sunglasses also prevents squinting to avoid wrinkles caused by repetitive movements.
Moisturizer - Use a good moisturizer to help diminish the appearance of wrinkles. It helps to plump up the skin to prevent dry skin from shriveling up, which enhances fine lines.
Don’t smoke or quit smoking - Not smoking can tremendously improve your skin by preventing collagen and elastin damage.
Healthy diet - Consuming food with nutritious vitamins and drinking plenty of water can help protect the skin. A healthy diet includes lots of fruits and vegetables.
