CBD and Hemp in Beauty Products
As long as the ingredient is extracted within the proper parameters, CBD oil does have benefits for healthy skin. As the research behind CBD oil's topical benefits continues to grow, it has become central to many people's skincare routines. As a result, CBD oil is being marketed in skin care products for everything from acne to hydration. But are any benefits possible? Believe the hype!
What is Hemp?
Cannabis plants are very well known for their psychoactive properties. They produce a feeling of relaxation and happiness when consumed. Still, they also slow mental activity with each dose taken by mouth or smoke inhalation, which is why people associate them with being' high.' The main active chemical found within these types, if cannabis refers specifically to - is THC. This gives you those pleasant feelings associated with cannabis; fortunately, there's more than meets the eye. Hemp refers explicitly to cannabis that contains 0.3 percent or less THC content by dry weight. Why 0.3 percent? This definition was first proposed in 1979 and addressed that it's challenging to tell the difference between hemp and cannabis because there's no actual taxonomical difference. Therefore, the 0.3 percent rule is used in the legal definition of hemp. Because the THC level in hemp is so low, it won't make you high. Therefore, hemp is perfectly safe, natural, and plant-based.
CBD vs. Hemp Oil
CBD oil isn't the same as hemp seed oil, but how can you tell? CBD oil is made directly from the plant (flower, leaves, stems,) while hempseed oil is made from cold-pressing seeds into oil and contains no CBD. CBD can be extracted from both marijuana and hemp; however, much of the CBD you'll find on the market is made from hemp since marijuana is not legal everywhere. Hemp oil typically has more nutritional benefits, and when it comes to hemp oil and CBD oil for pain relief, CBD oil usually wins. It's perfectly safe to take hemp oil and CBD oil together. Combining different CBD products is considered safe, and oils can be used topically for skin health and consuming a supplement or food additive.
CBD in Skincare Products
CBD makes its way into skincare products by claiming to offer antioxidant and anti-inflammatory benefits, which can be beneficial in treating skin concerns like inflammation, dryness, and free radical damage. It may also help treat acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Skincare products infused with cannabidiol are formulated using full-spectrum CBD oil, broad-spectrum CBD oil, or CBD isolate. Full-spectrum CBD oil contains all the compounds found in hemp, including trace amounts of THC. On the other hand, broad-spectrum CBD oil includes a range of cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids derived from hemp but no THC. CBD isolate is the purest version of CBD. It doesn't contain any other compounds found in a hemp plant.
Who would benefit from using CBD?
The answer to this question depends on how you use it. For example, the Food and Drug Administration has already approved the use of CBD in one prescription medicine meant to treat children suffering from seizures, given that they are over 2. In theory, hemp-based CBD oil should be available to consumers of all ages; since it doesn't create an intoxicating sensation, it doesn't have the toxic materials that require restriction. Many grocery stores are starting to offer CBD in their pharmacies. When purchasing online, most websites that provide CBD will ask new users if they are over 18, so it is clear that online shops try to play it safe. The safest audience for CBD purchases is anyone at least 21 years old. In general, you have to be 18 or older.
Is CBD Safe?
The use of CBD on the skin is generally safe. However, skin irritation, a rash, or an allergic reaction is possible like any product. If this occurs, stop using the product and consult a dermatologist. It is not recommended to use CBD skin products that contain alcohol, as this might combat its beneficial effects and heighten inflammatory skin conditions. Neither Hemp oil nor CBD makes you sleepy; some people even use it in their morning coffee. Regarding skincare benefits, it is recommended for those with inflamed, compromised skin and sensitive and dry skin types. It can also benefit those with aging skin.
Top 5 CBD Benefits
1. Hydration: CBD has moisturizing properties that can help combat dehydration and dryness
2. Reduce Breakouts: this may help reduce inflammation
3. Regulate Oil Production: helps regulate hormones involved in oil production, reducing excess sebum
4. Neutralize Free Radical Damage: works to prevent the weakening of the skin by neutralizing damage
5. Improve skin conditions: reduces eczema prevalence and works well to address the endocannabinoid system
How CBD helps Inflammation, Eczema, and Psoriasis
One of the primary purposes of CBD is to reduce inflammation. The human body has two CBD receptors that we know as CB1 and CB2. CBD interacts with these receptors to reduce the inflammatory response when applied to the skin. To make it short, you may see less redness overall. Likewise, in skin diseases, including eczema and psoriasis, possibly because CBD creams may help reduce dryness. In addition, CBD ointment improves skin hydration (by moisturizing and preventing water loss), boosts skin elasticity, and generally improves their quality of life. For many skin diseases, dermatologists often recommend a topical steroid cream as anti-inflammatory medicine. These are safe for most people and effective, but some people don't want to use steroids. CBD is a nonsteroidal therapy to fill that gap. In addition, side effects of topical steroids include thinning the skin if overused or used long-term. Still, you can help avoid these risks when using them correctly; working with your dermatologist to ensure that you have the proper medication at the correct dosage can help with this. Beyond that, there is the potential to use CBD to delay early signs of aging. Inflammation is the basis of all skin diseases, including aging.
Can you use CBD with Sunscreen?
A new use for CBD skincare is sunscreen because its anti-inflammatory properties help reduce the effects of a sunburn, such as redness and sometimes even a painful sensation. (The idea is to apply sunscreen correctly.) Still, in real life, many people miss areas, and using a CBD-infused SPF may supply more broad absorption and help the reaction of sunburned spots.
