Juicing to Cleanse and Detox the Body
Juicing has been around since the 1930s, but recently, it has become more and more popular. The purpose of juicing is generally to cleanse or detoxify the body, or to supplement a regular diet. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) indicated that there are health benefits when consuming 2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cup of vegetables everyday. With the busy lifestyle that we have, juicing would make it easier to consume the recommended amount. With juice bars popping up everywhere, and the affordability of juicing machines to make it at home, consumers are jumping on the juicing band wagon.
What is Juicing?
Juicing is a process where the liquid from fruits and vegetables is extracted, leaving behind the fibers. On the other hand, blending retains the pulp and fiber, making the drink thicker like a smoothie.
Reasons to Juice
Cleanse and detox - One of the main reasons juicing has become more prevalent is because of the detox concept. This diet involves consuming only juice for a certain number of days allowing the body to cleanse itself from unhealthy foods that may have been consumed, and are replaced with healthy vegetable and fruit juice.
Concentrated vitamins and nutrients - If you are not getting enough fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet, juicing is an excellent alternative to overcome deficiencies in the least amount of time. Eating whole fruits and vegetables can provide the same benefits, but some feel that juicing allows the body to absorb the nutrients better, and it gives your digestive system a rest from digesting fiber.
Healthier Skin - Juicing can sometimes improve skin conditions because it helps to eliminate chemicals and toxins that trigger psoriasis, adult acne, rashes, eczema, premature aging, and more. Most vegetables and fruits contain fiber and other essential nutrients that help flush out the toxins that affect your overall skin and hair health. They also consist of antioxidants that inhibit the growth and effect of free radicals in the body, which are responsible for damaging body cells.
The body is created in a way that naturally detoxifies itself, but juicing enhances the process. Having a proper diet is the primary key to a healthier body.
